What is Medicare?
Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people 65 and older, and for some younger people with disabilities. It has several parts: Part A (hospital), Part B (medical), Part C (Medicare Advantage), and Part D (prescription drugs).
When should I enroll?
You can enroll during your Initial Enrollment Period, which begins three months before your 65th birthday and ends three months after. If you miss this window, you may face late enrollment penalties. You can also enroll during the annual Open Enrollment Period.
What does Medicare cover?
Part A covers hospital stays, skilled nursing, and some home health care. Part B covers doctor visits, outpatient care, and preventive services. Part D covers prescription drugs. Medicare Advantage (Part C) bundles these into a single plan.
